Heard great things about this new restaurant, owned by Marta Teegen and Robert Stelzner, and had to stop by to check it out.  The restaurant decor is simple and cozy, I love that the owners decided on having just two long communal tables and a bar.  Miss V thought their chandelier was cool looking.

Miss V and I ordered three things – Chorizo with Egg, Merguez Sausage Flatbread with Yogurt Sauce and Persimmon Pudding.  All were very good, but Miss V highly recommended the pudding.

Gordon Ramsay opened a new restaurant at The Grove called, The Fat Cow – think comfort British food.  My friend, Lauryl, and I met up for lunch there and we both agreed we’ll return for more (especially the Lobster Mac-n-Cheese!).  We ordered Salted Caramel Milkshake, Brussel Sprouts with Bacon, Fish & Chips and Shepherd’s Pie; everything turned out great!  Love that the restaurant is right next to the theater, makes it easy to grab a bite before and/or after the movie.

September turned out to be one of my busiest months – 1) shot my last two weddings of the year, 2) first time to Chicago, 3) catalog shoot with The Land of Nod, 4) commercial shoots and… 5) helping my little 3rd grader with math (yikes!).  While the past month was challenging, both mentally and physically, I wouldn’t change a thing because I feel so fulfilled.

I’ve been going through a lot of transformations the past year or so, mainly just trying to figure out who I really am.  I love looking at pretty things, the problem with that though is I can never settle on one style.  Of course, if you’re patient enough, time will reveal what works for you and what doesn’t.  Luckily, things are getting clearer and clearer to me recently and I’ve never felt so connected.  I love minimal things, but also something dramatic; down to earth, but also luxurious.  So much conflicts, but when I found the middle point everything just makes sense.

Pinning for a good cause – I’m joining Juicy Couture,  along with Alexandra EvjenAmy Sia and Erin Hiemstra, to host a Pinterest board dedicating to women that inspire us.  The charity campaign is for Step Up Women’s Network, a nonprofit organization that empowers underprivileged teen girls through mentorship and after-school programs.  Every time you Pin or Tweet with the hashtag #GirlsKickAss and @juicycouture together, $1 goes to Step Up Women’s Network.  We have from now through September 30th to send out our Pins and Tweets to help raise money, so hurry!

*Be sure to watch the Karlie Kloss video.  “Not only do we share the brand’s ideals of empowerment and confidence, but we also recognize the innovative spirit of the video and are thrilled to be a part of the brand’s first foray into film,” Step Up CEO Jenni Luke said in a statement.
