Earl Grey Infused Whipped Cream with Ginger Syrup

Need:
1 cup Heavy Whipped Cream (or Heavy Cream)
1 Earl Grey Tea Bag (can substitute with different type of tea)
1 tablespoon Powdered Sugar
1 tablespoon Ginger Syrup

Make:

Put a small pot over low heat, pour heavy whipped cream and put the tea bag in, stir occasionally.  Turn the stove off when heavy cream starts to bubble.  Remove tea bag and pour heavy cream into a bowl with a strainer on top (to separate leftover tea leaves).  Put the bowl of heavy cream into the fridge until it’s cold.

In a large mixing bowl, put sugar, ginger syrup and heavy cream (it should be completely cooled down by now) in.  Beat heavy cream with an electric hand mixer until thickens and starts to get foamy.

Plan Check Bar

1800 Sawtelle Boulevard
Los Angeles, CA 90025
Tel: 310-288-6500

What I like //
1. The interior.  It’s spacious, it’s casual and it’s bright.
2. The people.  Staff was great, everyone was friendly and easygoing.
3. The menu.  It has just the right amount of dishes, which means the chef focuses on what he does best.
4. THE FOOD.  If you trust what I like, you’ll go to Plan Check right now.  This place definitely has some real good food and I already want to go back for more.

*Adapted from The Pioneer Woman.  This recipe was so easy, perfect to make with if you have little ones.  Miss V and I had a lot of fun with this.

Need:
1 sheet Puffed Pastry, cut in half
2 apples (leave skin on), cored, halved, and sliced
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt

Make:

Let puffed pastry sit in room temperature for about 20-30 minutes to defrost.

Preheat oven to 415 degrees.

When puffed pastry is defrost and soften, unfold it, then cut a straight line down in the center.

Place puffed pastry rectangles onto a baking pan that’s been sprayed with nonstick spray.

Add sugar and salt to apples. Stir to combine. Allow to sit for few minutes.

Arrange apple slices on the pastry rectangles in a straight line, overlapping. Bake for 18 to 20 minutes, or until pastry is puffed and golden brown.

Remove from pan and place on a serving platter immediately and sprinkle powdered sugar.

*Note: You can even cut puffed pastry in squares and serve smaller pieces.

I posted on Instagram of my Earl Grey Milk Jam recently and I received many questions about the recipe.  So here it is…

Adapted from this blog:

1 Cup cream
1.25 Cups of whole milk
3/4 Cup of sugar
5 Tablespoons of earl grey tea

Cook cream, milk and sugar on low heat, stir with a wooden spoon for about 30 minutes until the mixture changes color and thickness, add the earl grey tea (steep tea bag, I used Tazo Earl Grey, in 5 tablespoon of hot water for at least 5 minutes. I added 5 tablespoons, but 3-5 will do), stir for another 3-5 minutes and pour it into bottles.  Put the bottles into the refrigerator for a night and you can enjoy the next day!

Another easy way is buy one can of condensed milk at any market, pour the whole can into a pot and warm it on low heat for about 20 minutes, add 3-5 tablespoons of earl grey tea, stir for 3-5 minutes and it’s ready to be bottled.

It’s fun to add new taste to an ordinary ice cream and excite the tastebuds once in awhile.  Cookie Dough ice cream + freshly brewed Earl Grey tea (steep tea bag, I used Tazo Earl Grey, in 5 tablespoon of hot water for at least 5 minutes – I like mine dark) + Ginger syrup from Morris Kitchen (I mixed about 1-2 teaspoon into the tea) + sprinkled with black salt (bought mine from Broome St General).

Heirloom Market BBQ
2243 Akers Mill Rd, Ste 110
Atlanta, GA 30339
(770) 612-2502

When I was visiting Atlanta, I made sure to have some real good and legit bbq.  After researching, I decided to go to Heirloom Market BBQ.  Wow, this place was packed, which only meant I made the right choice!  I ordered the “must have” (according to the lady at the register) – Korean BBQ Pork Sandwich and that was REALLY good!  It was spicy, the cole slaw was made with kimchi sauce, but it went well with the mac-n-cheese.  Wish I can go back for lunch today!
