[EAT] Gjelina Take Away // Los Angeles

Gjelina Take Away is the expansion of Gjelina, which serves take-out breakfast and lunch items, such as pastries, pizzas and salads.  The morning I went was early still, so I didn’t have to wait in line (it gets packed by 11am).  The set up is pretty nice, all the food is placed on the counter behind the register, so you can see what you’re ordering + you can point and ask, “what’s that?”  I ordered an egg sandwich and a cup of fresh squeezed orange juice.  The sandwich was pipping hot and delicious, the egg and bacon were cooked to perfection.  It was quite oily (in my opinion), but perfect with the orange juice.  By 11am, they started serving lunch and I really wanted to try the salmon toast, which was already sold out.  I casually said to them, “I was hoping to try the salmon toast as well, but the person before me got the last one.”  They were so nice and asked the kitchen to make me a fresh one!  The salmon toast had slices of cucumber and boiled egg, combined with everything (toast, cream cheese, cucumber, smoked salmon, boiled egg and capers) every bite led me wanting more.  mm-mmm…
