[TRAVEL] Portland, OR – day 2
Continue from Day 1…
:: Day TWO ::
We started our second day bright and early. The weather was exceptionally beautiful after much rain the day before. First stop – Broder, a Swedish restaurant. Sally, the little ones and I met up with Chelsea and Joke + her boy at 9am, all ready for some yummy breakfast. Danish Pancakes were AMAZING! I had the Wild Mushroom & Caramelized Onion Baked Scrambles, which was good. What’s even better, though, was the Potato Pancakes that came along. mm-mm-yum…..!
After breakfast, we stopped by Pearl Bakery to pick up some pastries for our visit to Japanese Garden and Pittock Mansion. Their pastries were so good that I remember overhearing my mom said to my dad, “Let’s move to Portland” after her first bite of the chocolate croissant.
For dinner, we went to Screen Door for some Southern comfort food. Sally took me there last time and I couldn’t get over their mashed potatoes and banoffee, so I requested for it again. The wait was long and Sally took us to Heart Coffee Roasters for a coffee break. After an hour wait, all of us were happily eating some of the best southern food – BBQ Ribs, Mac-N-Cheese, Sweet Potato Fries, Fried Okra, Mashed Potatoes and Banoffee.

wow what a full and fun day! the food looks amazing, as always in your photos!!
what an ever lovely (& delicious) time!
hopefully sally was able to get some photos of YOU.
I went to Pearl Bakery and the Japanese Gardens too — loved seeing your perspective on them! And wasn’t Pearl so delicious? We went twice. :)
Anyway, lovely set of photos. Very dynamic and nostalgic at the same time.
I absolutely adore your blog, you are such an inspiration and these photos are so beautiful!! (and Miss V what a cutie pie!)

{double sigh} You captured the day in such a magical way. Portland never looked so good! :)
so much eye candy! love your pictures. so nice to see the pics of V with J&J. their friendships look so sweet.
Loved posts 1 and 2, B! Portland looks like my kinda place – a great vibe. Your mum is super stylish and I love that garden space.
Seriously, I think you should do a travel guide/book with your photography. Nothing has ever given me such inspiration to visit a place as your images.
On a side note, I used a pic of you and miss v on my blog here: http://bit.ly/fdwBxc. I hope that’s okay? If not, just say the word, and I’ll take it down! I completely understand you want to protect the kids.
Cheers,
Stephanie
Thank you, everyone! You’re all so sweet!
@ Stephanie – Thanks for letting me. That one’s ok, we’re just more concerns of the pics with the little ones alone. :)
Beautiful food and light in Portland!

Thank you for making Portland look so lovely – and for taking the time to visit some of our favorite spots! We’re proud of our city and always glad to see a write up that doesn’t just focus on the rain :)
